Christina Dos Santos, the dynamic and dedicated owner of Paws At Play Pet Hotel, embarked on her journey in the pet care industry with a personal mission that has since evolved into a thriving business. Officially opened on January 27, 2013, Paws At Play emerged from Christina's desire to create a haven where pet owners could confidently leave their beloved fur children. This vision was born from Christina's own experience; after planning a holiday, she was disheartened by the available kennel options in the Boksburg area and decided to cancel her trip. Instead, she resolved to establish a facility where she would feel comfortable leaving her own dogs. Starting modestly with 10 little wooden huts and no private gardens, Paws At Play catered for 15 dogs in its first season. Christina, alongside her son and a single employee, worked tirelessly from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM, ensuring each pet received the utmost care and attention. Over the years, Paws At Play has expanded significantly, now featuring 20 cottages with private, enclosed gardens surrounded by bricked walls and Harvey roof tiling. The smallest garden measures 3 meters by 6 meters, while the largest offers an expansive 24 meters by 8 meters, providing dogs ample space to run and play. The facility also boasts 10 luxury units with attached private gardens, designed for less active dogs, complete with 24-hour music and lighting. Additionally, there are two penthouses with sunny verandas and 'turf grass' for elderly or indoor dogs, as well as a condo for petite, spoiled dogs, which includes a pet sitter when needed. At full capacity, Paws At Play can comfortably accommodate 100 dogs. The Grooming Parlour at Paws At Play is another testament to Christina's commitment to excellence. Utilizing only professional grooming equipment and hypoallergenic products from reputable suppliers, the parlor ensures a stress-free experience for the dogs, who roam freely during their pampering sessions. Upon completion, dogs are treated to snacks and transported home in a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle. Nutrition is a cornerstone of the care at Paws At Play. The hotel guests are fed high standard dog kibble brands, complemented by freshly cooked, vet-certified chicken mince for breakfast. This nutritious start to the day is a favorite among the dogs, ensuring they remain happy and healthy during their stay. All feeding sessions are supervised to prevent conflicts and ensure every dog enjoys their meal in peace. Christina Dos Santos, a retired dog trainer and senior groomer with an International Grooming Diploma and 12 years  experience, leads a dedicated team at Paws At Play. Her son, Riccardo, serves as the manager, with Anastancia as the supervisor and senior groomer, Lindiwe as a groomer and dog handler, and Lucy as a pet sitter and part-time groomer. Their collective expertise and passion ensure that Paws At Play maintains its stellar reputation and continues to improve.
